Role brief

aimlroles summary, based on the employer's posting.

What you'll do

  • Build platform features in Python and Angular, including LLM fine-tuning interfaces and experiment tracking dashboards
  • Create multi-tenant agents with modular orchestration, then develop MCP servers that keep agent communication within defined APIs
  • Build retrieval pipelines using Knowledge Graph RAG, LightRAG and RAPTOR, supported by Neo4j and pgvector
  • Set prompt and intent rules to prevent workflow conflicts, and turn subject-matter expertise into automated agent solutions
  • Guide technical delivery while coding, coordinating with UI and API teams on end-to-end platform integrations

What you bring

  • At least ten years in software engineering, with five or more spent delivering AI and machine learning in production
  • Two or more years of hands-on generative AI work covering LLM development, RAG and prompt engineering
  • At least three years guiding technical teams and delivering complex software or AI platforms end to end
  • Practical AWS experience for AI and machine learning workloads, plus a portfolio of AI systems used in live business settings
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, data science, AI or a related discipline

Who this fits

This senior player-coach role suits an engineer who can code while setting technical direction and leading delivery. It is hybrid in Canada, with three office days and two remote days each week.

From the employer

Citi is hiring an AI Lead Engineer, Technical Lead to build and shape the engineering foundation of its Services AI Platform, a multi-tenant, production-grade ecosystem where agentic AI meets enterprise scale. This player-coach role combines hands-on coding with technical direction, giving you ownership over a platform built for trust, resilience, and scalability. You will turn complex enterprise workflows into intelligent, automated systems that deliver measurable impact across Citi's global operations.

Responsibilities

  • Build full-stack AI platform components using Python and Angular, including large language model fine-tuning interfaces and experiment tracking dashboards.
  • Design and optimize multi-tenant intelligent agents using modular orchestration patterns such as ReAct and ReWOO to power scalable, production-ready agentic workflows.
  • Build Model Context Protocol servers that enforce clean, decoupled communication layers so agents interact only through defined API boundaries.
  • Develop advanced retrieval-augmented generation pipelines, including Knowledge Graph RAG, LightRAG, and RAPTOR hierarchical summary architectures, to enable sophisticated enterprise data retrieval.
  • Integrate vector and graph databases such as Neo4j and pgvector to support complex, thematic data retrieval at platform scale.
  • Design precise prompt and intent classification logic that prevents workflow collisions and ensures accurate handling of agent instructions.
  • Partner with subject matter experts to translate domain knowledge into automated, agent-driven solutions.
  • Collaborate with UI and API teams to deliver seamless end-to-end integrations across the platform.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • 10 or more years of software engineering experience, including at least 5 years focused on AI and machine learning solutions delivered in production environments.
  • 2 or more years of hands-on experience in generative AI, including large language model development, retrieval-augmented generation, and prompt engineering.
  • 3 or more years leading technical teams and owning end-to-end delivery of complex software or AI platforms.
  • Deep practical experience with AWS infrastructure and services for AI and machine learning workloads.
  • A demonstrated portfolio of AI solutions deployed into live business environments, showing both technical depth and delivery ownership.

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI, or a related field
