Role Description

As an AI engineer on the CRAFT (Capabilities, Routing, Adaptation & Fine-Tuning) team, you will bring research into production and build products across our roadmap, including tools for agent evaluation and continuous improvement. You’ll own features from the user experience through backend services and model integrations.

You’ll turn research in post-training and model evaluation into products that help customers understand and improve their models. We’re looking for strong product instincts to translate research methods into intuitive workflows and delightful user experiences.

Beyond your role’s specific qualifications, we’re looking for strong engineers with great taste. The most important qualification by far is that you learn fast and can ship. You’ll work closely with researchers and customers to define problems, make practical tradeoffs, and deliver products in an evolving space.

Although we operate within a larger company, CRAFT is a small team with significant autonomy over our roadmap and priorities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4+ years of industry experience in software engineering, with experience building and shipping production applications.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals, including system design, testing, debugging, and production operations.
  • Strong product judgment and the ability to work through ambiguous requirements, prioritize effectively, and deliver usable solutions.
  • Hands-on experience building LLM-powered applications or AI agents, including tool use and multi-step workflows.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing evaluations for AI systems, including defining success criteria, building test datasets, and analyzing failures.
  • Familiarity with LLM post-training workflows, including supervised fine-tuning, reinforcement learning, or distillation.

Wondering if you’re a good fit?

  • You love defining long-term architecture for systems at global scale.
  • You’re curious about orchestration beyond SUNK and how to evolve it for next-generation AI.
  • You’re an expert at mentorship, architecture, and operational excellence across teams.
  • You thrive on solving problems that balance cost, performance, and reliability in high-demand environments.
